TOWN
TAKES TITLE TO SAND ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE
The
Town of Dauphin Island Alabama has taken ownership of the Sand Island
Lighthouse. While the town legally owns the lighthouse no funding
exisits to
support the lighthouse. All funding will have to be obtained by
indiviual efforts.
This
brave island community has agreed to legally own the lighthouse even
though they do not have the needed funds to restore the lighthouse. The
Alabama Lighthouse association will help raise the funds and operate
the lighthouse for the benifit of the public.
We hope others will join in and help us create a great public receation
area at Sand island lighthouse!
.
LIGHTHOUSE NEEDS A TENDER
We are still in need of a
larger boat to transport people and equipment back and forth to the
lighthouse.
We do have a need for outboard motors of 50 hp and larger sizes also.
We could also use a small to medium barge.. This is a really big need
right now!
If anyone has one, or knows of someone who would like to
donate one, please let us know.

About the book " The Sand Island Lighthouse Chronicles "Searching in vain for
an accurate description of the history of this lighthouse. The author was dismayed to learn that there was
nothing to be
found. Understanding that the Lighthouse was in desperate need of
someone to help. The author decided to do the necessary research and
developed this accurate historical record of the Lighthouses past. This book has details about the mysterious deaths and
disappearances that occurred. It also informs the reader about the
train that once
was placed on Sand Island. Your purchasing
