While everything you say is the truth:
We should remember that the Alabama Historical Commission (AHC)was able to raise the needed funds for restoration work on Middle Bay Lighthouse that was completed this year. The lighthouse got a new roof, new doors and much structural repair work done to it. It still needs much cosmetic work and the Alabma Lighthouse Association is working toward getting this done. A new wooden platform for gaining access to the Lighthouse is just now being completed as part of the preparations for this work. I think the AHC should be commended for the efforts they have exhibited so far. I feel that with the publics support and watchful eye the Fort Morgan Lighthouse can be restored. Perhaps a few friendly letters or telephone calls from citizens to the AHC are in order. We might say we are concerned about the lighthouse and would like to know when the lighthouse will be scheduled for repair and replacement?
Thanks

: I appreciate the update on Mobile Point, but after reading this article about the funding situation in the state for the AHC, it doesn't leave one feeling overly confident about a lighthouse that the state hasn't taken much interest in over the years. I'm quite suprised that they list Ft. Morgan on their "priority list", as, at least in my mind, they haven't taken much initiative to promote and/or preserve it over the last few years that I've been visting.. just my 2cents and I certainly hope I'm wrong about the lighthouse(s)....
: It's going to be a long long road ahead of us to preserve our history!!
